Silence Is Not Always Golden
“Yet I never shrank from telling you the truth, either publicly or in your homes.” (Acts 20:20)
Can any of us make this claim? That we never shrank from telling others about the truth, about the Good News, about Christ. Ashamedly, I could not make this claim. I am certain that there are many who are the same. I remember one story in particular.
On a certain day of the week, every week, people would go to spend time at a place. Spend time having a bit of fun in a clean environment with friends. Maybe meet new people and make new friends. We would also meet for a short time to honor God, but not everyone who went believed in Christ. It was open to all.
On one such week, I had a long day at work and decided not to go. While relaxing at home, God gave me an irresistible urge to go anyway. A bit strange to me, but still He said I should just go. So, I went and along the way found someone who had broken down on the side of the road. The vehicle would not start and I recognized her as one of the people that went to the same place I was going. Suddenly I knew that this is why God asked me to go.
She did not know God, and what an opportunity to show her how God works and how wonderful He is. Stopping to help, I found someone else had already stopped and could not find the problem. Offering to help, we were able to find the problem and start the vehicle in less than 5 minutes. God’s Grace was clearly at work.
Here is where I regret not carrying through on God’s opportunity…
